Anubavam puthumai...

An awesome duet from kadhalika neram illai… we all know how awesomely hilarious this movie was. I can still watch the nagesh-balaiya comedy scene and laugh my guts out… we can never forget the “oh ho productions” and “there you are!”

All the songs from this movie were good… but this one is such a dreamy, slow melodious number that it makes you feel you can never hear such good singers anymore. Read somewhere MSV inspired by the old Mexican song…Was astonished to knew these info..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZSADBhXBm4&feature=player_embedded#!

No introduction needed for Kaushick (Kshanks), Already we both did a song muthumani maalai and he always do songs in one shot and with his ordinary recording set up..

I am really afraid of doing suseela’s number ..Almost blinking how to reach out the sweetness of her voice ! Somehow managed…and as usual Kaushik had done a excellent job..

Thuli Thuli Thuli Mazhayai......

A soft romantic solo with pleasant string accompaniment and sharp rhythms. Haricharan’s rendering is clean and crisp. Tanvi is content with background humming. The second interlude without rhythms is soothing, could make a mark with smooth visuals. Loved Haricharan’s vibrotos and he could be called as sonu nigam of south…Just tried those vibrotos ….:D …A Lovey tune from yuvan ( might be… Suttatho…:P)

Somewhere listened to this tune…Reminding some western tune… Too much craze to sing this number…Male singers pardon me :D

Oru deivam thantha poove...

Rahman always tries different sounds in melodies too. In this song, there is no typical usage of flute, guitar, veena, and grand violin orchestration in the interludes, which has become the inevitable instruments to be used in any melody. With a single keyboard and mild pad beats he has given a haunting melody. The basic keyboard rhythm floating in the background is something never heard before and it is captivating. This is how he creates a new sound by programming new patterns and loops in the keyboard. The mild pad beat that plays when all the layers fade in and fade out at the beginning and at the end is same as the rhythmic bell sound that we heard in “Bombay theme”. Apart from all these I feel the hidden soul of the song is mild violin orchestration that plays in the background all through the song, which emotes the situation well. The way the chorus chant of the title “Kaanathil muthamittal” in which there is a strange twist in the note in between the word “Muthamittal” is excellent and typical Rahman way of composition.

Chinmayee with a strong formal education in hindustani music has extremely sung well a tough song with elegance. She sounds as soothing as a flute sound. She excels in giving different expressive notes to the word “Nee” wherever the line ends with the word “Nee”. Her solo alap in the middle is very difficult to reproduce for a lay and the note of this bit is awesome. On the other side, Jayachandran’s golden voice is refreshing. He has sung this song effortlessly and the shift in pitch of the voice in each and every line is spontaneous without compromising the expressions in the voice.

The situation is like parents consoling their adopted child as is restless on hearing shocking news that she is an adopted child and they are not her genetic ancestors. The lyrics are like a sweet lullaby. Like in Tamil, parents will please the kids by saying like “en chellam dee ne, en thangam dee nee, en vairam dee nee”, in the similar way Vairamuthu has written some thoughtful lyrics with each and every line contradicting the previous line.

Overall a Soulful melody with a new sound.

Senthoora Poove....

It is quite difficult to grasp how Ilayaraja could use guitar and western orchestration for a village tune and still create a hit out of it. Gangai Amaran boasts that following the success of this song !

This was a trend setting song for a short period, as there were already songs starting with names of flowers prior to this. Perhaps this song revived the need to start songs with names of flowers. Camerawork was a strong plus point for this song. (Gangai Amaran also has said that there is no such flower as Senthoorappoo. It is an imaginary flower, and challenges anyone to produce that flower!

The vinyl record also recorded sky high sales. Sivaji Ganesan himself has reportedly remarked that Senthoora Poove was his favourite song for 1977.

S. Janaki was bestowed national award for best playback singer for the song Senthoora Poove. The song was surprisingly very popular in Russia as well.

You’ve got to watch her closely to realise that the enthralling voice is actually in action. Even the toughest of refrains cannot make her move her head or hands ever so slightly — till date her statuesque pose as much as her scintillating strains leave watchers wonder struck – S.Janaki !! She has been singing for 5 decades for 17 languages still going strong day by day ! I am really thrilled about the feel she gives with each song ! Stunned !! Hats off to her !!!!

Please bear with the track dragging issues !
